AG warns Target gift card offer is a scam
Attorney General Patrick Morrisey is warning West Virginia consumers of a Target gift card scam that has been occurring across the country on social media.
The warnings are the latest taken to inform nearly 70 million consumers who may have been affected when company credit and debit cards were breached in December.
“Scammers have taken to social media websites to prey on consumers offering them a Target Gift Card supposedly as a way to make up for their data being breached,” Morrisey said. “This is scam. Target has not offered gift cards in response to this incident.
Robbery info sought
The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for its help in catching the people who allegedly broke into a pharmacy twice.
The Glen Daniel Pharmacy was broken into Nov. 3 and Nov. 29 during the overnight hours, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
Man charged with passing fake money
A 69-year-old Oceana man has been charged with multiple counts of fraudulent schemes and counterfeiting. Billie Conner Counts waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday before Raleigh County Magistrate Tomi Peck.
