Lester police chief charged with bribery

Bribery charges against Lester’s police chief stem from a November traffic stop, according to a complaint filed in Raleigh County Magistrate Court.

Dustin Scott Boggs is charged with bribery in official and police matters. The complaint reports that the alleged victim said Boggs stopped her Nov. 23 for a defective equipment violation, as well as driving with a revoked license

The victim alleges that Boggs requested sexual favors in return for not arresting her.

The complaint says that Boggs allegedly took the victim back to the Lester Police Department where the two had sexual relations in exchange for her not being arrested.

The complaint states during a computer voice stress analyzer exam, Boggs admitted to having oral sex with the victim.

A hearing will be held March 13 at 1 p.m. before Raleigh County Magistrate Stephen Massie.

Brandy Smallwood, 28, and James Green, 24, both of Fairdale, were charged Feb. 10 in connection with the death of 2-year-old Graydon Morgan.
Green was indicted for first degree murder, death of a child by child abuse, child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, child neglect resulting in death and child neglect resulting in serious bodily injury.
