BECKLEY — In Raleigh County Circuit Court Wednesday, Judge Robert A. Burnside denied a motion to set bond for a Naoma man suspected of fatally shooting a man in September.

Donald B. Moore, 46, allegedly shot and killed James Williams, 42, of Artie, after an altercation outside the Hillbilly Tavern in Rock Creek in the early morning hours of Sept. 16.

Police say the altercation began inside the bar, then moved outside where witnesses reported Williams was shot by Moore.

Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Keller said since bond was denied for Moore, he will remain in Southern Regional Jail until he appears before the grand jury in January.
