Man arrested for drugs

As part of an ongoing investigation by Beckley Police, a Columbus, Ohio, man was arrested Monday for drug violations.

Jerome Hargrove Jr., 46, was charged with delivery of a controlled substance and possession with the intent to deliver after police executed a search warrant at 235 Morris Ave. and uncovered $500 worth of crack-cocaine and a loaded 9 mm handgun, said Detective Gant Montgomery of Beckley Police’s Drug Unit.

Police said they began investigating the residence, which belongs to Robert Teet, after receiving numerous complaints about a large volume of traffic in and out of the home, possible drug activity and multiple gunshots fired.

Montgomery called Hargrove a career offender with a long list of drug offenses and said police have reason to believe he was supplying the drug to a group of people police are already investigating.

Additional criminal charges are pending, Montgomery said.
