Three-vehicle wreck leaves 1 dead in Fayette

LAVISTA — A three-vehicle accident around 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Fayette County left one individual dead, the Fayette County Emergency Operations Center confirmed.

The accident occurred in Lavista on Route 60 near the Old Sam’s Market, and entrapment was reported, the dispatcher said.

At least one other person was injured in the accident and transported to an area hospital.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Nuttall Fire Department, Ansted Fire Department, Jan-Care Ambulance Service and General Ambulance Service responded to the scene.

Sheriff’s deputies were still on the scene at 5:30 p.m. and could not be reached by press time.

Raleigh grand jury hands down 89 indictments
The mother and stepfather accused in the death of a 2-year-old boy were among the 89 indictments handed down by the Raleigh County Grand Jury.
Brandy Smallwood, 28, and James Green, 24, both of Fairdale, were charged Feb. 10 in connection with the death of 2-year-old Graydon Morgan.
Green was indicted for first degree murder, death of a child by child abuse, child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, child neglect resulting in death and child neglect resulting in serious bodily injury.
The indictment against Smallwood if for death of a child by child abuse, child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, child neglect resulting in death and child neglect resulting in serious bodily injury.
