Rainelle Police Chief J.P. Stevens said a Hinton man was arrested Friday and charged with obtaining prescription narcotics by fraud in Rainelle.
Derrick Leon Wood, 32, of Hinton, allegedly went into the Rite Aid in Rainelle and had a prescription for 150 oxycodone filled. Police said Wood is accused of handing a bad check to the pharmacist, grabbing the prescription from the counter and fleeing.
Stevens said the prescription was valid but Wood knowingly wrote a check on an account without sufficient funds.
Wood was arrested by Hinton Police and arraigned before Greenbrier Magistrate Brenda Campbell.
The suspect is currently out on a $5,000 bond.
