Man arrested on burglary charges

A Fayetteville man was arrested Thursday on burglary charges, according to police officials.

Mason Vaughn Campbell, 20, was charged with felony offense of daytime burglary and misdemeanor petit larceny and prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

Campbell was arrested after Sheriff’s Detective Bureau officers responded to a report that someone had broken into a home and stolen several firearms. Fayetteville Police officers assisted in the arrest.

Campbell previously lived with the victim of the burglary. After locating Campbell in the Hilltop area of Fayette County, investigators were able to recover the stolen firearms and take the suspect into custody.

Campbell is currently in Southern Regional Jail on a $20,000 bond.

The incident is still under investigation by the Detective Bureau of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the Fayetteville Police Department.
