— Following up on residents’ complaints, Rain-elle Police arrested a McDowell County woman on prostitution charges Thursday afternoon.

Crystal Gail Coffey, 29, was charged with soliciting prostitution and indecent exposure, according to Police Chief J.P. Stevens, who made the arrest, with the assistance of Sheriff’s Lt. Doris Vandall.

“We’ve had some complaints recently about a couple of women working as prostitutes in our town,” Stevens said.

He said he used an informant to help get evidence against Coffey.

“(Coffey) jumped in the informant’s car, and we made a traffic stop and arrested her,” the chief said.

Stevens said he understands that Coffey only recently moved to the Rainelle area.

“Prostitution won’t be tolerated in Rainelle,” he declared. “I just want to get (prostitutes) out of my town.”

Coffey was taken to Southern Regional Jail following her arrest. She was expected to be arraigned late Thursday evening before Greenbrier County Magistrate Doug Beard.
