Wyoming domestic situation results in double shooting

From Staff Reports

— A domestic situation escalated early Thursday morning and resulted in a double shooting in Wyoming County, according to Sheriff Randall Aliff.

While traveling south on W.Va. 971 just before 1 a.m., Gregory Pelphrey, 44, of Clear Fork, and a female companion got into an argument. She jumped from the vehicle and ran to a nearby residence owned by Timothy Green, in Elk Lick, Aliff said.

Pelphrey, armed with a 40-caliber semi-automatic pistol, left his vehicle and reportedly began slashing the tires on a vehicle owned by Green.

Green came out of his house, armed with a machete, and an altercation ensued, Aliff said.

Pelphrey shot Green through the hand, according to the sheriff.

Despite his injury, Green was able to wrestle the gun from Pelphrey; then, during the altercation, Pelphrey was shot. Aliff was not certain of Pelphrey’s condition Thursday morning.

The investigation is continuing.
