— Two men charged with attempted first degree murder waived their right to a preliminary hearing Friday in Raleigh County Magistrate Court, according to the Raleigh County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police charged Randy Omar Jennings, 29, of Beckley, with the Sept. 17 stabbing of Jamie Clay, 27, also of Beckley, on Neville Street in front of the Department of Health and Human Resources.

Police said Clay suffered wounds to his right chest and deep lacerations that appeared to be defensive wounds to his right arm. He was transported to Raleigh General Hospital for surgery and was reported in stable condition the following day.

Jennings was taken to Southern Regional Jail, charged with attempted first degree murder, malicious wounding and conspiracy.

Upon investigation, a second suspect, Fredrick Donell Brooks, 30, was also charged with attempted first degree murder, malicious wounding and conspiracy for his alleged part in the incident.

Both cases will be heard before the January grand jury.
