BECKLEY —
Beckley police say a man sped off in his vehicle after stopping at a DUI checkpoint Friday night on South Fayette Street.
Police Chief Tim Deems said the man pulled up around 10 p.m. and spoke to the officer, but when the officer told the man to pull to the side of the road, the man sped off.
Deems said the man was not apprehended, but had been identified. The man faces a charge of fleeing from police.
