The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a suspect in the armed robbery of Ball’s Grocery Store in Oak Ridge just before 8 p.m. Monday, reported Sheriff Steve Kessler.

According to police, a masked male entered the store and demanded money from the clerk while wielding what was believed to be a knife.

The suspect, whom police identified as Randy Colton Treadway, 20, of Beckwith, fled with an undisclosed sum of money in a white 1999 Jeep Cherokee or similar older model Jeep.

Kessler said officers responded to the area immediately, but were unable to locate the suspect.

Treadway is described by police as a white male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, around 150 pounds, with dark hair and eyes.

Police said he was wearing a dark blue “OP” jacket, blue jeans and boots.

The incident remains under investigation by Fayette County Sheriff’s Sgt. S.L. Campbell.

The sheriff’s department was assisted by the Fayetteville Police Department.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or Treadway’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, 304-574-3590.
