Two of three suspects in murder bound to grand jury

— Probable cause has now been found for two suspects in the Sept. 26 shooting death of Beckley resident Shawn Rucker.

In separate preliminary hearings before Raleigh County Magistrate Richard Jones, Cornealius “Ty” Taylor, 22, and Alfred Pittman, 23, had their cases bound over to the January term of the Raleigh County grand jury.

A third suspect, Dwayne Lane, 22, was originally scheduled for a preliminary hearing Tuesday, but the hearing was postponed and will be rescheduled.

The three men are charged with 1st degree murder for allegedly shooting Rucker during a home invasion at a residence on 6th Street on Sept. 26.

Raleigh grand jury hands down 89 indictments
The mother and stepfather accused in the death of a 2-year-old boy were among the 89 indictments handed down by the Raleigh County Grand Jury.
Brandy Smallwood, 28, and James Green, 24, both of Fairdale, were charged Feb. 10 in connection with the death of 2-year-old Graydon Morgan.
Green was indicted for first degree murder, death of a child by child abuse, child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, child neglect resulting in death and child neglect resulting in serious bodily injury.
The indictment against Smallwood if for death of a child by child abuse, child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, child neglect resulting in death and child neglect resulting in serious bodily injury.
