Sophia police seeking suspect in store incident

SOPHIA — The Sophia Police Department is looking for a white male who stole a carton of cigarettes and shoved a clerk at CJ’s Liquor and Tobacco in Lester Square earlier this week.

A spokesperson for the police department said the man is between 18 and 30 years old, approximately 5 foot 8 inches tall with blond hair and a slender build. He left the store in a red Toyota truck. Unless the investigation renders other evidence, the suspect will be charged with robbery because he acted aggressively toward the store clerk when she tried to stop him, the police department says.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Sophia Police Department at 304-683-3331 or Crime Stoppers at 304-255-STOP.
