Trial in receiving stolen property case begins

BECKLEY — A jury trial began Monday in Raleigh County Circuit Court for a 52-year-old Clarksburg man charged with conspiracy and receiving stolen property.

Robert Lee Cottrill and his co-defendant, Rickie Lojene Harper, 51, of Buckhannon, were both charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and receiving stolen property.

Harper, however, pleaded guilty April 3 to conspiracy by way of a plea agreement with the Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the receiving stolen property charge was dropped.

Raleigh County Circuit Court Judge H.L. Kirkpatrick will sentence Harper at 9:30 a.m. May 29.

Cottrill’s trial will continue today.
