ATV accident with injury under investigation

The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an ATV accident that occurred Wednesday at Grassy Meadows, confirmed Sheriff James Childers.

Danny Ray Fitzwater, 40, of Alderson, was driving a four-wheeler without a helmet and lost control of the vehicle, said police.

Fitzwater was thrown from the vehicle. He was then airlifted to Charleston Area Medical Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, Childers reported.

Police said alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.

The wreck is still under investigation by Capt. D. Livingston with the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office.

Raleigh grand jury hands down 89 indictments
The mother and stepfather accused in the death of a 2-year-old boy were among the 89 indictments handed down by the Raleigh County Grand Jury.
Brandy Smallwood, 28, and James Green, 24, both of Fairdale, were charged Feb. 10 in connection with the death of 2-year-old Graydon Morgan.
