Police: Man, 3 juveniles arrested

Wyoming County Bureau Chief

— A Lester man and three juveniles have been arrested in connection with two separate crimes at Mullens Middle School, according to Mullens Police Chief Ray Toler.

Cody Treadway was arrested and charged in connection with a break-in at the school which resulted in nearly $20,000 in damages in the gym, the band room, and to trophy cases, Toler said.

Mullens Police Department and the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department have been investigating for several weeks, Toler said.

Another adult and another juvenile are expected to be arrested in connection with the investigation, Toler said.

Treadway’s bond was set at $50,000 and he remained in Southern Regional Jail Thursday morning, according to Toler.

In an unrelated incident, officers arrested Sidney Dunford and Eddie Graham after executing a search warrant in Mullens in connection with a string of area burglaries.

Authorities recovered a safe, jewelry, and other stolen property, according to Toler.

Additional charges are expected to be filed this week, Toler said. Officers with the Mullens Police Department, State Police, and county Sheriff’s Department all have cases that involve both Dunford and Graham, the chief said.

Area residents led police to the suspects, Toler said.

“This was a case of the community and police agencies working as a team to end a several-week crime spree,” Toler said.

Owners of some of the jewelry items have not been identified and Toler asks that anyone in the Mullens area who has had a recent break-in should contact him at 304-294-6666 or Sheriff’s Sgt. Will Hall at 304-732-8000.

State Police Sgt. Maddy, of the Jesse Detachment, is conducting an investigation of stolen items sold or pawned in Raleigh County, the chief noted.

Dunford remained in Southern Regional Jail on a $10,000 cash bond.

Graham remained in jail on a previous bond violation.

The investigations are continuing.
