State Police said an excavator theft suspect used his employer’s vehicle, but that Raleigh County employer had nothing to do with the crime.
Kevin Roy Miller, 41, of Surveyor, was charged with grand larceny in the incident, State Police said. He was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Wyoming County Magistrate Court, but the hearing was continued.
The excavator is worth $150,000, according to the Wyoming County Magistrate Court criminal complaint.
The complaint states Miller, an employee at Superior Steam Cleaning in Lanark at the time of the theft, used his employer’s rollback to load and transport the excavator.
Miller told State Police he acted alone, the complaint states. He said his supervisor let him borrow the truck and a driver, but neither knew the equipment was stolen.
A Superior representative contacted The Register-Herald Thursday and said Miller was no longer employed there.
