Beckley police investigating shooting that left 1 dead

BECKLEY — Beckley Police detectives are investigating a Saturday shooting that left one person dead in the parking lot of the Wilbrian Apartments complex on Ewart Avenue.

Police weren’t releasing the victim’s sex, age or race Monday afternoon, but Chief Detective Lt. Dave Farley said the victim was killed by a gunshot wound.

“Someone called the 911 and said there were people shooting in the parking lot,” reported Farley.

He added that police discovered the victim’s body when they arrived around 9:30 or 10 p.m.

“We have limited information right now because we’re still trying to catch up with everybody and interview people who were over in the area,” said Farley.

He urged anyone with information to contact him at 304-256-1708 or to call Crime Stoppers at 304-255-STOP (7867).
