— A Beckley woman charged with arson turned herself into police Tuesday.

Beckley Detective Cpl. W.G. Pannell said that Pamela Nichols, 40, was charged with first-degree arson for a May 12 fire at Beckley Townhomes at 123 Hager St.

Police were not initially able to locate Nichols and had asked the public for help in finding her.

According to Pannell, Nichols was caught by security video setting the fire at a specific apartment.

The motive, Pannell said, was revenge.

Police charge that Nichols set the fire at the exterior of an apartment that she believed was inhabited by an individual who had “ripped her off” in a drug deal.

However, she set the fire at the “wrong” apartment.

There were no injuries reported.

Nichols was arraigned and transported to Southern Regional Jail, Pannell said.
