Guilty pleas entered in Raleigh Circuit Court

Four men entered guilty pleas to felony crimes in Raleigh County Circuit Court Wednesday before Judge Robert A. Burnside.

Matthew Lucas Jackson, 21, of Stanaford, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering.

After a pre-sentence investigation is completed, sentencing will be held Sept. 20 at 9:30 a.m.

Burnside granted a motion for Jackson to remain on his current bond.

Frank Gulino, 36, of Italy, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin, a schedule I narcotic controlled substance, and intent to deliver.

Raleigh County Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Tom Truman said Gulino is a native of Italy, but has been in the United States since he was 6 years old. He was deported once, but came back.

Burnside sentenced Gulino to serve one to 15 years, but suspended that sentence while he serves 90 days of confinement at Southern Regional Jail.

He was granted credit for time already served, making his effective sentence date April 20 and his jail sentence expires today, at which time he will be released to the custody of the U.S. Department of Imitation and Customs Enforcement.

Andrew James England, 29, of Josephine, pleaded guilty to delivery of heroin and conspiracy to commit a felony. A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered and he will be sentenced Sept. 20 at 9:30 a.m.

Barry Jerome Hairston, Jr., 44, of Beckley, pleaded guilty to first degree sexual assault.

He will also be sentenced Sept. 20 at 9:30 a.m. after a pre-sentence investigation is completed.
