Leivasy man sentenced for possession of child pornography

A Nicholas County man was sentenced Thursday in federal court on charges of possessing child pornography.

Chad Nesselrotte, 29, of Leivasy, must spend 30 months in prison, to be followed by a 15-year term of supervised release. He pleaded guilty to the charge April 7.

Court records say Nesselrotte searched for and downloaded child pornography from the Internet using a computer located at his residence. Beginning in at least January 2006, Nesselrotte paid for access to an illegal Web site hosting child pornography.

During the execution of a search warrant, police found hundreds of images of child pornography on Nesselrotte’s computer which he downloaded from various illegal Web sites. Many of the images depicted known children who have been identified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Also sentenced for possession of child pornography Thursday was Telford Cruikshank Jr., 42, of Clay. He will serve 24 months in prison, followed by a 15-year term of supervised release. Cruikshank entered a guilty plea May 18.

The Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted both investigations.

The cases were brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
