A North Carolina man is dead following an accident Saturday on the West Virginia Turnpike, State Police said.
Sgt. J.T. Findley and Cpl. T.D. Holster said William Francis Barker, 55, of Burlington, N.C., was headed south near the Ghent exit around 12:30 p.m. when he rear-ended a tractor-trailer.
Holster said Barker was pronounced dead on the scene, and a female passenger was transported for injuries.
The driver of the tractor-trailer reported no injuries.
