The Raleigh County sheriff’s office is investigating the burglary of New Salem Baptist Church on McAlpin Road.
The church has services on the first and third Sunday of every month, and the Rev. Donald Cook said he believes the burglary occurred between June 16 and June 21.
Cook said the door to the upstairs of the 100-year-old church was kicked in, leaving the lock and frame busted. Among the items taken were a Hoover vacuum cleaner, a large commercial fan, three boxes of ceiling tile, folding chairs and other household items.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s department at 304-255-9300 or Crime Stoppers at 304-255-7867.
