Fayette County authorities say a man struck his girlfriend in the head, the girlfriend stabbed him and the male suspect went to jail.
Jeremy S. Bailey, 29, of Oak Hill, was charged with domestic battery, Sheriff Bill Laird said. Bailey was released from Southern Regional Jail Thursday after posting $1,000 bond.
Deputies were called to Bailey’s residence near Prudence Road in Harvey around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Laird said.
The preliminary investigation indicated Bailey and his girlfriend, Fayetteville resident Christy Smith (no age available), were arguing and the argument turned into a physical altercation.
Bailey then struck Smith in the head with a closed fist, Laird said. Then, Smith stabbed Bailey in the hand with a knife.
Bailey was taken to Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, where he was treated and released, before he was taken to jail, Laird said.
Smith has not been charged, and the investigation is ongoing, Laird said.
