A Fayette County woman was killed Friday night in a vehicle accident in Minden, authorities said.
Amanda Sue Griffith, 24, of Mount Hope, was identified as the driver killed in the accident, Sheriff Bill Laird said.
Shortly before 8 p.m., the sheriff’s department was notified of a single-vehicle accident on County Route 17 in the Minden area, Laird said.
According to the preliminary investigation, Griffith was driving a 1990 Lincoln Continental west on the roadway, toward Oak Hill, Laird said. Apparently, Griffith lost control of the vehicle. The car struck an embankment and overturned, ejecting Griffith.
A passenger in the car, identified as Cindy Canaday, no age or hometown available, was taken to Plateau Medical Center, then transferred to another facility, Laird said. The extent of her injuries was unknown. The Register-Herald contacted Charleston Area Medical Center, Cabell-Huntington Hospital and Raleigh General Hospital, but no record of a person with that name was found.
