Two people were arrested Wednesday in connection with robbing a corpse, according to Wyoming County Sheriff C.S. Parker.
Ronald Jesse Lester, 28, and Amanda Jean Morgan, 21, both of Simon, have each been charged with grand larceny.
While passing by on W.Va. 10 near Pineville Sunday, the two spotted a man on his front steps, Parker said. They stopped and checked the person.
“Apparently he was already dead,” Parker said.
Though the couple called 911, they took the cash from the deceased, the sheriff said.
Both Lester and Morgan denied entering the man’s home, but some items are missing, Parker said.
The investigation is continuing.
