Police arrest man after alleged threats are made

RAINELLE — Police Chief J.P. Stevens said Michael Dallas Mitchell, 52, of Rainelle, was arrested Tuesday and charged with brandishing a deadly weapon, trespassing while armed, and public intoxication with a blood alcohol level double the legal limit.

According to Stevens, Mitchell allegedly threatened a man with a knife inside the victim's home on First Street in Rainelle. Mitchell would not leave the home and the homeowner locked himself inside a bedroom and called 911.

When police arrived, Mitchell was reportedly leaving the home with several knives.

Mitchell was taken to Southern Regional Jail pending an arraignment hearing.
