Ronceverte Police arrest woman accused of dealing hydrocodone

A weekend traffic stop led to the arrest of an accused drug dealer, according to Ronceverte Police Chief J.R. Byer Jr.

Byer said he made a traffic stop at around 10:45 p.m. Sunday and, while speaking with the driver, he noticed a female passenger “was moving around and appeared to be trying to shove something into her waistband with her hand.” Byer asked that the passenger show him what was in her hand.

“She handed me several hydrocodone pills,” Byer said. “She advised me where she had obtained the schedule II narcotics, and I obtained a search warrant for that address.”

Byer said Greenbrier County Magistrate Brenda Campbell issued the warrant at around 2 a.m. Monday. With assistance from officers with the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department and the Lewisburg Police Department, Byer executed the warrant on a Ronceverte residence at 3 a.m., confiscating approximately 80 hydro-codone pills and $1,200 in cash.

Wanda Fay Jennings, 41, a resident in the house where the drugs were found, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver and delivery of a controlled substance, both felonies.

Jennings is now in Southern Regional Jail on $20,000 bond.

According to Byer, Jennings was the only person arrested in connection with the case, but the investigation is continuing.

Citing the cooperation of the passenger in the vehicle involved in the traffic stop that led to the woman accused of dealing drugs, Byer declined to identify either the driver or the passenger.

“We had a number of complaints about this address (where Jennings was arrested) over the past several months,” Byer said. “It kind of all fell into place Sunday night.”
