UPDATE: 11-year-old in critical condition after shooting

The Fairmont Police Department is offering few details about a shooting incident that occurred Wednesday night involving a child.

At about 10 a.m. Thursday morning, Police Chief Kelley Moran distributed a press release to local media about the incident. The full text of the release is as follows:

"On (Wednesday) April 9 at approximately 19:52 p.m. (7:52 p.m.), the Fairmont Police Department responmded to a residence in Fairmont in reference to a shooting incident. Due to the ongoing investigation, additional details are not available at this time. The name and address of the victim are not being released at this time due to the sensitive nature of the investigation. The injured party is an 11-year-old male who was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

"Further information is pending the outcome of this investigation."
