— After a monthlong investigation by the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit, Gerald Tyrone King, 33, of White Sulphur Springs, has been taken into custody on felony drug charges. Lewisburg Police arrested King Wednesday and charged him with distribution of a controlled substance, morphine. Police say more charges against King are forthcoming.

Since receiving information in August that King was involved in the distribution of controlled substances in the Greenbrier County area, numerous undercover drug buys were conducted by the narcotics unit, police said. When the drug purchases concluded, authorities obtained an arrest warrant for King.

King was transported to the Greenbrier County magistrate’s office and arraigned by Magistrate Brenda L. Campbell, who set a $50,000 cash-only bond. King is being held in Southern Regional Jail.

In addition to King, other individuals could also face charges as a result of the investigation. King is currently on parole through the state of West Virginia, and a detainer was placed on him by West Virginia Parole Services pending a parole board hearing.
