Fayette County Sheriff’s Department deputies are looking for a would-be burglar “with a dog bite,” Fayette Sheriff Steve Kessler said Wednesday.
Around 1 a.m., an Oak Hill woman arrived at her Gatewood Road home to discover a burglar in her house, Kessler said.
“He’d just got in the house when she came home,” the sheriff reported. “She let the dog loose on him, and Skippy got some of him.
“So we’re still looking for a guy with a dog bite.”
The woman told police that the dog bit the man on the right leg, and the man fled the house.
Kessler said he did not know the dog’s breed, but the dog was apparently “a biter.”
The suspect is described as a 6-foot tall black male with a medium build, wearing black sweatpants and a gray, hooded sweatshirt.
Kessler said those with information on the break-in may contact the Sheriff’s Department at 304-574-4216 or CrimeStoppers at 304-255-7867.
