BECKLEY —
A Beckley man was sentenced Tuesday to more than 12 years in federal prison for cocaine distribution.
U.S. District Judge Irene Berger sentenced Norvel Woodson, 52, to 151 months behind bars. Woodson received an enhanced sentence because of previous federal drug convictions.
Woodson pleaded guilty in March, admitting he sold powder cocaine to a confidential informant. On March 14, 2008, an informant working with the Beckley Bureau of Drug Investigations purchased a quantity of cocaine from Woodson in exchange for $100, prosecutors said. The drug deal took place at the confidential informant’s Beckley residence.
