Naoma man arrested after fatal bar shooting

An altercation inside a Raleigh County bar around 2 a.m. Sunday left one individual dead and another in police custody.

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department confirmed a homicide that occurred Sunday morning at Hillbilly’s Tavern on Coal River Road in Rock Creek is still under investigation.

Police were called after an alleged altercation between Donald B. Moore, 46, of Naoma, and a man began inside the bar.

The alteration allegedly moved outside the tavern where witnesses reported the man was shot by Moore.

The sheriff’s department said the man died from injuries sustained in the shooting.

Moore was arrested without incident and is being held awaiting arraignment in Southern Regional Jail.

Police are withholding the name of the man until his family can be notified.
