After breaking into several local homes and businesses, Shawn Anthony Greathouse, 39, was sentenced in Raleigh County Circuit Court last Thursday to serve a net indeterminate sentence of not less than three nor more than 40 years and a consecutive determinate sentence of five years.
Newly appointed Chief of Detectives Gant Montgomery said he thinks the officers did a great job investigating this case.
“I hope it does make a statement,” Montgomery said.
Raleigh County Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Tom Truman said Greathouse pleaded guilty to the felony crimes of breaking and entering, possession of a firearm by a prohibited carrier, two counts of nighttime burglary and one misdemeanor, obstructing an officer.
Judge H.L. Kirkpatrick sentenced Greathouse to one to 10 years for breaking and entering, five years for the possession of a firearm by a prohibited carrier, one to 15 years for the first count of nighttime burglary, one to 15 years for the second count of nighttime burglary, and one year for obstructing an officer.
Greathouse was ordered to pay over $6,200 in restitution.
