Victim of November shooting passes away

BECKLEY — The victim of a November shooting in Beckley died Thursday, according to Beckley Police Detective Sgt. David Allard.

After the Nov. 12 incident, Isaiah Shivers was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center and listed in “extremely critical condition.”

Allard said police are awaiting results of the autopsy and the case is still under investigation.

Darius Toney, 25, was charged with wanton endangerment at the time of the shooting. Allard said additional charges have not been filed against him.

Toney allegedly shot at a vehicle along Hartley Avenue, and Shivers was injured during the incident, but it is unclear at this time whether Toney is responsible for Shivers’ death.
