BECKLEY — A Beckley man was arrested Sunday for allegedly firing several shots inside his home on Third Avenue, Beckley Police reported Monday.

Chad Lee McGuire, 31, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. after Patrolman J.J. Stewart and other officers responded to a call of shots fired, Sgt. Dave Allard reported.

McGuire continued firing a weapon after police were on his property, officials said.

“Officers actually heard shots being fired as well, and located several handguns and an AR-15 inside of the house,” added Allard.

“All the shots that went through (that area of the house) went into the bathroom,” said Sgt. Dean R. Bailey. Police said there was a parrot in the bathroom but were unsure if it was a target.

McGuire was the only person in the home at the time the shots were fired, according to Allard.

Allard said all of the guns were legally registered to the younger McGuire.

McGuire was charged with one count of wanton endangerment and transported to Southern Regional Jail under a $5,000 bond.

It was unclear Monday why he’d fired the shots. The incident was still under investigation.
