Mercer man facing child pornography charges

— A federal grand jury, seated in Beckley, has accused a Mercer County resident of engaging in child pornography.

The indictment accused Johnny Richard Rowe, 60, of Bluewell with possessing hundreds of images and videos of child pornography on his computer June 19. If convicted, Rowe could be sentenced to 20 years in prison and fined $250,000.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa Johnstown is spearheading the prosecution in a case investigated by the West Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The case is part of U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin’s initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse in West Virginia’s Southern District.
