Hinton police are searching for a man who broke into the Hinton Gospel Tabernacle Church on Feb. 6 and stole three guitars with a total value of $6,500.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for Blaine Andrew Adkins, 33, of Hinton. He is being charged with breaking and entering, destruction of property and grand larceny, authorities said.
Chief Derek S. Snavely said Adkins broke a window on the rear exterior of the church and entered the building. He reportedly stole one Fender electric bass guitar, valued at approximately $1,000, one Michael Kelly acoustic/electric bass guitar, valued at approximately $500 and one Martin D35 Brazilian acoustic guitar, valued at approximately $5,000.
Hinton Police recovered all three guitars Feb. 17, but they had been damaged. In the process of the theft, Adkins threw the Martin guitar out the window, which caused approximately $4,500 worth of damage to it. The other guitars have major damage and are considered total losses.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Adkins are asked to call 304-466-4657 or the non-emergency number for Summers County 911 at 304-466-3333.
