RONCEVERTE — A Greenbrier County man was arrested Friday, charged with abusing a 6-week-old infant, police said.
Michael Joseph Leech Jr., 23, of Ronceverte, is charged with child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, according to Greenbrier Sheriff James W. Childers.
“Our children and the elderly are among our most vulnerable population,” Childers said. “We are charged to protect them and that’s exactly what we are going to do.”
The arrest, concluding a monthlong investigation, was made Friday evening by Detective R.A. Martin of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department.
Leech was being held at Southern Regional Jail Saturday on $25,000 bond.
