Arrest made in string of Dollar General robberies

Police have arrested a suspect in the Dollar General store robberies at Glen Daniel.

Melvin William Powers, 30, of Fairdale, is charged with two counts of first degree robbery for incidents that occurred June 20 and June 22, according to a press release from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office.

The robberies at the Dollar General store, as well as other robberies in the area, are still being investigated.

Other arrests may be coming at the end of the investigation, the press release said.
