Vet nursing home employee steals resident's credit card

A Harrison County woman and an employee of the state-run veterans nursing home in Clarksburg has been arrested for stealing and using a veteran’s credit card.

Georgia Sue White, 27, of Shinnston, was arrested Monday by the White Hall Police Department and is being charged with four counts of fraudulent use of access device and one count of forgery.

According to the criminal complaint, White stole Troy Chandler’s credit card and attempted to make four different purchases with the card at the Wal-Mart in White Hall on June 3.

White Hall Police Chief Geno Guerrieri said White is a nurse at the Clarksburg facility and stole the credit card from Chandler, who resides at the nursing home.

Guerrieri said Chandler contacted the White Hall Police Department and stated that someone had used his credit card at the Wal-Mart in White Hall. Guerrieri then found out when the purchases were made and talked with employees at the store.

Guerrieri said he then looked at surveillance footage of the day the purchases were made.

“We were able to obtain video of her being accused of that along with the vehicle she was in,” he said.

The criminal complaints states that White obtained items from the shelves and placed them in a shopping cart. White then attempted to purchase items four different times with three of those transactions being denied.

White was successful in her first attempt of using Chandler’s credit card and purchased an item for $158.97. The complaint states that Chandler did not give White permission to use the card.

White attempted to purchase $1,642.99 worth of items on Chandler’s card.

Guerrieri said White also faces felony charges in Harrison County.

White is currently being held at the North Central Regional Jail. Bail is set for Marion County at $50,000 and bail for Harrison County is $20,000.
