BECKLEY — Beckley Police say they executed a search warrant at a city hotel room Monday — seizing cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana and a semiautomatic handgun.
Marvin Trafon Keaton, 28, of 2032 Grasmere Ave., Columbus, Ohio, is charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession with intent to deliver cocaine base (crack cocaine), possession of marijuana and possession of a deadly weapon by a convicted felon, said Detective Lt. Gant Montgomery, field supervisor for the Beckley Police Department narcotics unit.
Keaton was taken to Southern Regional Jail following his Monday arrest. An arraignment was pending as of Monday afternoon, Montgomery said.
Montgomery said a two-day investigation led to Keaton’s arrest. Police gathered enough information to execute a search warrant at a Harper Road hotel room around 2 p.m. Monday. Keaton, his girlfriend and a girl who was about 3 years old were inside at that time.
Police located one bag that contained crack cocaine in smaller bags, Montgomery said. Altogether, police said they found about 50 grams of crack cocaine that has a $5,000 street value. They also reported finding 13 grams of cocaine worth about $1,300 on the street, $1,156 in cash and a small bag of marijuana.
Montgomery noted police also found a .357 semiautomatic Glock handgun underneath a pillow. He said Keaton has multiple felony convictions in Ohio.
The investigation is ongoing, Montgomery said. Montgomery, Detective Sgts. Dean Bailey and Jason McDaniel, Detective Bryan Atterson and Cpl. Will Reynolds executed the search warrant.
