Couple arrested for alleged vehicle theft at local store

An area couple was arrested Tuesday night for allegedly stealing a pickup truck at the Crab Orchard Little General.  

Keith Hatfield, 25, of Pineville, and Sebrina Rowe, 27, of Bartley, entered the Nissan truck when its owner, Angela Lewis, entered the convenience store to pay for gas. Her 9-year-old was in the vehicle at the time, and, startled by the couple’s entry into the vehicle, jumped out, according to a media release from the West Virginia State Police.

Hatfield and Rowe drove away from the Little General and were later located in Maben by a Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputy, the release said. Hatfield was driving the truck and Rowe was a passenger, the release said.

Both are charged with grand larceny, conspiracy and assault during the commission of a felony, the release said.

During the course of the investigation, officers found that Hatfield had outstanding warrants from Wyoming County on charges of  second-degree robbery and felony escape.

Both Hatfield and Rowe are being held at the Southern Regional Jail on $50,000 bond each.

The investigation is being handled by the Beckley detachment of the West Virginia State Police.
