Beckley man sentenced to 15 years in prison

A Beckley man was sentenced Tuesday in Raleigh County Circuit Court to three to 15 years in prison for the attempted first degree murder of his wife.

Michael Gregory White, 27, formerly of Azzara Avenue, pleaded guilty before Judge H.L. Kirkpatrick to malicious wounding, felony third offense domestic battery, attempt to commit first degree sexual assault and attempted first degree murder.

Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Keller said White was sentenced to two to 10 years for malicious wounding, one to five for domestic battery, one to three for attempt to commit first degree sexual assault and three to 15 for attempted first degree murder, all of which will run concurrently.

White has been in jail since July 23, 2010 for these charges.

Kirkpatrick also ordered that White must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
