—

Police are searching for a man and woman suspected of robbing a home in the Deepwater area of Fayette County around 3:40 a.m. Saturday, according to Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspects knocked on the door and asked if they could use the phone because their vehicle was broken down. They forced their way into the residence when the homeowner opened the door, police said.

The man brandished a dark-colored semi-automatic pistol and the woman brandished a wooden claw-hammer, demanding “money and pills.” They looked through the homeowner’s prescription medications, but did not take any of the nonnarcotic medications, police said.

The victim’s purse was reportedly stolen with an undisclosed amount of money and the suspects fled the scene in a small passenger car.

No injuries were reported.

The male suspect is described as having a medium build, between 6 feet and 6 feet 5 inches tall. He was wearing dark clothing and a ski mask. The female was approximately 5 feet tall with dark hair and skinny to medium build.

This incident is still under investigation. Anyone having further information is asked to call Fayette County 911 at 304-574-1610, the Sheriff’s Department Detective Bureau at 304-574-4305 or CrimeStoppers at 304-255-7867.
