The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two suspects in an armed robbery in the Mahan area early Saturday morning.
Sheriff Steve Kessler reported that at about 1:07 a.m., Fayette County 911 was notified that the Sunoco convenience store at Mahan had been robbed. The suspects reportedly fled from the scene in the direction of the West Virginia Turnpike.
The clerk told deputies who responded to the call that a white woman with short, “nasty” blond hair and multiple tattoos on her arms had entered the store and walked around for a few minutes before the robbery.
She left the store and a black man entered. The clerk said he was armed with a handgun and was wearing a hooded sweatshirt that partly concealed his facial features. The clerk did note that the suspect appeared to have a large growth on the side of his neck.
The suspect ordered the cashier to give him all of the money in the drawer or he would be forced to kill him.
The clerk gave him the money and the suspect left the store, got into a midsize vehicle, possibly a Ford Taurus, with the woman and fled toward the turnpike.
Turnpike authorities were notified but could not locate the suspects.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to contact the Fayette 911 Center at 304-574-7867 or submit a tip through the Crime Tips section of the sheriff’s office website, http//fayettesherffwv.net, or through the department Facebook page.
