Mercer man arrested for failure to register as sex offender

A Mercer County man is scheduled to be arraigned Friday on charges of failing to register with the West Virginia State Police as a sex offender.

Sheldon Dewayne Brown, 39, of Bluefield, was arrested on Thursday, according to Cpl. J.C. Long of the West Virginia State Police Princeton Detachment. According to Long, Brown moved from West Virginia, into Virginia and moved back into West Virginia. Long charged Brown with six counts of failing to register.

Brown’s original conviction on 3rd degree sexual assault was in 2005.
