Guilty pleas entered in circuit court

Four Raleigh County men entered guilty pleas Tuesday before Raleigh County Circuit Court Judge John A. Hutchison.

Harold Wright, 70, of Beckley, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a prohibited carrier.

Raleigh County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Andy Dimlich said Wright was a prohibited carrier because of a felony conviction in the 1990s.

Wright faces up to five years in the penitentiary. After a pre-sentence investigation is completed, Wright will be sentenced June 19 at 9 a.m.

Ryan Monroe, 23, of Beckley, also pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a prohibited carrier.

Dimlich said Monroe was in possession of a .357-Magnum Smith & Wesson, and he was a prohibited carried because of a first-degree robbery conviction in 2009.

His pre-sentence investigation was waived and Hutchison sentenced him to the penitentiary for five years.

The state agreed not to seek an enhanced penalty based on Monroe’s prior conviction.

Brian Gene Wood, 43, of MacArthur, pleaded guilty to delivery of heroin.

Dimlich said Wood is facing a potential one- to 15-year sentence.

A pre-sentence investigation will be completed and sentencing is scheduled for June 19 at 9 a.m.

Henry Alan Gray, 50, of MacArthur, pleaded guilty to attempt to commit a felony, which carries a potential sentence of one to three years.

Dimlich said a pre-sentence investigation will be conducted and Hutchison will sentence Gray on June 19 at 9 a.m.
