Hinton mother charged with permitting sexual abuse of daughter

The Summers County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a mother for allowing a 24-year-old to have sex with her 14-year-old daughter after an anonymous complaint was called in to the agency, confirmed Sgt. T.J. Cochran.

Melissa Jo Yingling, 42, of Hinton, was arrested Monday and charged with six counts of permitting sexual abuse; Dustin Schuster, 24, formerly from Ohio, was arrested and charged with six counts of sex abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian.

Cochran said Schuster’s charge stemmed from the fact that Yingling left her daughter under his care while she was home.

Police said the abuse allegedly began after Schuster met the juvenile at the local McDonald’s in July where he and Yingling work. Schuster moved into the Yinglings’ home and the abuse allegedly continued through September.

Cochran noted that, although the suspects were both living in Hinton, they are both originally from out-of-state.

Both suspects are being held in Southern Regional Jail on $150,000 bond each.
